First, for those of us on the East Coast, I hope everyone did well through the storm this weekend.  We lost a large tree at the end of the driveway, but it fell into a gully near the canal, not toward the house or the cars.  No electricity during the day yesterday, though, as PECO worked to repair our grid.

Here are some dates and events to look forward to:

Fundraiser at oWowCow’s new Wrightstown shop in Carousel Village on Wednesday, August 31, from 6 to 9 pm.  A portion of all sales that evening will be donated to the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance (BCFA), a nonprofit whose mission is to foster and expand a local, sustainable food supply in Bucks County and to connect producers and consumers.

This educational and entertaining event is appropriate for all ages, including school-aged children who are under an adult’s supervision.
Snipes Farm & Education Center is at 890 West Bridge Street (Route 32, Lincoln Highway), Morrisville, PA 19067. Any cancellations due to extremes of weather (thunderstorms, flooding) will be posted on the BCFA website.
Medicine In Balance is Celebrating It’s 7th Birthday!
On Sunday September 25th, come join us for our open house, 1-4pm.  We’ll have a mini Tai Chi class, energy sessions, BIA readings, maybe chair massage.  Food will once again be provided by our monthly Healthy Eating Food Group, so come hungry.  Hang out with our providers, get to know us and chat with like-minded folks.
We plan to have “appointment scheduling” for any sessions that are of an individual nature, to avoid long lines and long waits.  More details coming soon, so check back here in the coming weeks.
Fall Detox Starts Saturday September 17th
Traditionally, healers from many systems recommend cleansing during the Fall and Spring Equinoxes as a way of preparing for the change in seasons.  Here at MIB, we’ve begun a similar tradition.  We plan to once again run our 10 day liver detox beginning Saturday 9/17/11.  During this program, we adjust our eating patterns and take specific nutraceuticals designed to boost our liver’s ability to transform and detoxify substances we take in.
Participants will start on the same day and receive daily emails of suggestions and support.  This creates a virtual “online” group, where you’ll hear how others are doing, get suggestions for meal planning and lots of helpful cheerleading.
If you are interested, please email the office at, and we can send details of the eating plan.  Please plan to be registered prior to Friday 9/16/11 in order to have the information and have time to go food shopping.  Cost of the supplements is $80; emails are free!
