Sorry for this late notice, but we’ve managed to squeeze in another set of Yin Yoga classes for the next few months. The first 3 week series starts tomorrow, 9/9/11! For this fall, the class has been extended to 90 minutes, from 5:30-7pm on Friday evenings.
The first series runs 9/9, 9/16 and 9/23. The next series is a 4 week series Oct 14, 21, 28 and Nov 4, also from 5:30-7pm.
We prefer to have folks sign up for a series when possible, since our space is a bit limited. However, if there is room, some drop-in slots may be available. (And if you know that you can only attend 3 of 4 classes but have a friend who will take the other class, we’ll still let you pay the series cost, not the drop in fee).
Cost for the first 3 week series is $54 . Cost for the 4 week series is $72. Drop in fees are $20 per class. The slightly increased fee reflects the longer class length, as well as helping to defray the cost of travel time Sally now has from her new home in Ottsville.
Yin yoga, unlike most hatha yoga, focuses on stretching the connective tissue, rather than conditioning muscles. Yin energy is passive, calm and restorative. In this class, postures which are similar to those found in a yang/hatha class are modified in ways to be held for up to 5-10 minutes each. This allows for stretching of the connective tissue and stimulation of the meridians that run through them. Some people say that after a yin class, they feel as though they’ve had a massage or acupuncture. If you’re looking for a way to balance your otherwise busy life, this is a good place to start!
